Here are some arrangements based on Bix Beiderbecke’s performances. Beiderbecke was one of the great jazz musicians of the 1920s known for his sticking tone and regular use of extended chords, with an ability to improvise freely along harmonic as well as melodic lines, practically anticipating further developments in jazz. He was also a child of the Jazz Age who drank himself to an early grave. During his lifetime he reached a legendary status among musicians and his reputation grew even larger after his untimely death at age 28 in 1931.
Here are transcriptions of some of his work with the Wolverines Orchestra, the Franck Trumbauer Orchestra and with his Gang.
